AudioCodes Claims Leadership in Enterprise Session Border Controller Market
The demand for network convergence to support Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is driving the need for the implementation of SIP trunking and Enterprise Session Border Controllers. In fact, this drive is creating significant opportunities for companies like AudioCodes. Infonetics (News - Alert) Research recently placed the company in third place in this market, demonstrating five percent share in 2011.
“E-SBC sales were very strong in 2011, up 60 percent from 2010, and we expect this market to grow significantly over the coming years,” said Diane Myers, principal analyst, VoIP and IMS at Infonetics Research, in a news release. “AudioCodes’ (News - Alert) installed base of enterprise gateways gives the company a competitive advantage, since it allows users to upgrade to SBC capabilities using existing assets."
Infonetics found that the primary driver for this growth is the rapid adoption of SIP trunking services. Enterprise session border controllers are used to provide protection for the corporate network when connected to the service provider network. E-SBCs also provide a much needed interconnection between disparate systems to ensure seamless performance.
According to Nimrod Borovsky, VP marketing at AudioCodes, the company is working diligently with a broad set of unified communications equipment vendors and providers of SIP trunking solutions, to ensure the interoperability and connectivity between service providers and the enterprise. In doing so, companies can enjoy secure VoIP connections without putting the network at risk.
AudioCodes is taking its leading position and knowledge to the market, offering insight on its enterprise session border controllers and what they mean for the industry. The company recently recorded three of the eight educational webinars focused on educating businesses and the partner community on enterprise migration paths to unified communications with Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync.
The purpose of this series is to explore various Lync deployment options, technical tips and best practices so organizations are better equipped when the time comes to make the migration to a full UC environment with Microsoft Lync.
The first recording focused on the implementation of IM, presence, voice and video. As the demand for video communications and presence continues to grow within the enterprise, integrated solutions must be able to support this technology. Enterprise session border controllers help to ensure the consistent performance without the risk.
Emergency services and E911 on a UC platform have also been explored in the series, as well as the process of moving from the PBX (News - Alert) or SIP phones to Lync. This can be a complicated process without the right tools and strategy in place. Finally, AudioCodes also explored how cost savings are enabled with SIP trunking.
The company has truly just scratched the surface in terms of the benefits afforded with the enterprise session border controller. For more on this topic, check out AudioCodes series on UC migration and how your company may benefit.
