AudioCodes' Enterprise SBC: Winning Solution for Winning Results
By Jaclyn Allard, TMCnet Web Editor
As TMC’s (News - Alert) Group Editorial Director, Erik Linask, explained to INTERNET TELEPHONY readers earlier this year, session border controllers (SBC) are generally viewed as solutions that help connectivity and security in service provider networks. Enterprise networks, however, have begun to closely resemble service provider networks. Therefore, enterprises are implementing a scaled down version of the traditional SBC to meet their need for multivendor interoperability and security.
AudioCodes’ (News - Alert) answer to multivendor interoperability and security can be found among its family of enterprise session border controllers (E-SBC), enabling connectivity and security between enterprises and service providers’ VoIP networks.
At this year’s ITEXPO East, Alan Percy, director of Market Development for AudioCodes, sat down with TMC’s Erik Linask (News - Alert), and recapped AudioCodes’ E-SBC launch. The solution was dreamt up as a result of companies moving from TDM to VoIP and needing a way to interface with SIP trunking carriers, as well as host offsite employees. The next step was to integrate the technology into AudioCodes gateway platform. The rest is innovative history in the making, as AudioCodes started out with three basic platforms for enterprise SBCs and more recently has been asked to scale up, adding single devices that can handle up to 8,000 sessions at once, appealing to larger contact centers.
Recognizing AudioCodes’ achievement with its E-SBC product line, TMC, a global, integrated media company helping clients build communities in print, in person and online, revealed the winners of the 2010 Product of the Year Awards, presented by INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine. Among the recipients of the 13th Annual Product of the Year Awards, was AudioCodes for the innovation and development of its E-SBCs.
The editors of INTERNET TELEPHONY selected the companies that have demonstrated the vision, leadership, and thoroughness associated with the Product of the Year Award. Linask emphasized that this year’s winners have been chosen based on innovation, contribution to the growth of IP communications.
Linask recognized AudioCodes’ achievement early on, “While its entry into the E-SBC market was a natural migration from its gateway heritage, it has proven a strategically sound investment, as the market is seeing significant growth as enterprises continue to recognize the benefits of a product that offers more than connectivity to a single provider. AudioCodes believes the migration from gateways to E-SBCs is the future of the market.”
With great achievement and such support, AudioCodes made the right investment in E-SBCs.
