YMax Picks AudioCodes Gateways for HQ VoIP Connectivity

By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor

AudioCodes, a developer of advanced Voice over IP (VoIP) and converged VoIP and data networking products and applications, claimed that YMax (News - Alert) Communications Corporation will be using AudioCodes’ Mediant 5000/8000 High Availability Gateways to attain high-quality VoIP connectivity to the PSTN in dozens of YMax’ core switch locations in the United States.

The Mediant 5000 VoIP Media Gateway (News - Alert) is a scalable, IMS-ready, standards-compliant, medium channel density system for wireline, wireless, cable, broadband access and fixed mobile convergence networks. It offers robust architecture meeting service providers’ stringent requirements for high availability. This high availability architecture is based on cost-effective N+1 redundancy of the processing blades and load sharing of fans and power supplies. It allows Network Equipment Providers (NEPs) and Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) to immediately address opportunities for these services due to its advanced deployment flexibility.

The Mediant 8000 Media Gateway provides extensive support for regional PSTN interfaces, broad voice coder options, Signaling Gateway Interworking, control protocols and advanced security features, enabling multi-service deployment flexibility for a variety of customers (ILECS, IOCs, CLECs, MSOs, large Enterprises and contact centers). It is a modular platform which can scale up to 16,000 protected channels, allowing customers to begin with a low capacity entry point and later extend to a higher capacity by increasing the number of processing blade modules.

YMax asserted that it had to replace existing gateways it required from other vendors with AudioCodes (News - Alert) gateways. With Mediant 5000 carrier-grade gateways, it was able to connect with its core VoIP switches into local PSTN services.

"We are pleased that YMax has once again selected our gateways to fulfill their commitment to provide high quality and resilient VoIP and TDM service to their customers," said Lior Aldema, chief operating officer at AudioCodes, in a release. "Emerging service providers such as YMax find a natural partner in AudioCodes thanks to our gateways' robust architecture meeting their most stringent requirements for high availability."
