Wavelink Corporation, a provider of enterprise mobility management software, announced the release of Wavelink Avalanche 5.2, the latest version of its mobile device management and wireless infrastructure management software.
Company officials say Wavelink Avalanche 5.2 provides a comprehensive, vendor-agnostic enterprise mobility management solution. It is enhanced with new feature set and multi-tenancy elements to support hosted solutions including software-as-a-service (SaaS (News - Alert)) and managed services.
Wavelink Avalanche provides centralized configuration, deployment and management of mobile devices and wireless infrastructure that works seamlessly across local and wide area networks. With these features, Avalanche improves employee productivity, increases network security and reduces the total cost associated with owning and managing mobile devices and peripherals
"With this version of Avalanche, we are taking the most comprehensive, fully-featured mobile device management solution and providing enhancements for ease of use as well as more advanced location and permission management within the product," said Peter Cannon, senior product manager for Wavelink, in a statement.
"No matter the combination of rugged devices, smartphones, tablets, wireless access points or other wireless devices, Avalanche enables organizations to manage them through a central console to reduce costs and improve productivity," Cannon added.
The new Avalanche has improved capabilities for reporting, organizing devices, security, location-based services and two-way messaging between an administrator and device user. Architecture changes provide the path for better integration with smartphone and tablet support, Avalanche Managed Services and Avalanche On Demand.
Another capability of Wavelink Avalanche 5.2 is the additional support for new firmware and devices including Aruba 3000 series devices, various Aruba APs and Motorola (News - Alert) AP650. The internationalization feature of the product allows the Web-based administration console to be localized into the languages needed by customers around the world.
Back in June Wavelink announced the launch of a telecom expense monitor (TEM) that allows businesses to analyze usage patterns so they can reduce their telecom expenses for mobile devices. It also alerts users and network administrators when devices are about to incur higher costs associated with roaming, plan overages, large data transfers and changing usage patterns.
