Wireless Enterprise Mobility Solutions Provider Unicel Deploys Fiorano's SOA Platform

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

Fiorano Software, a provider of distributed integration technology, announced that Unicel Technologies, a provider of wireless enterprise mobility solutions, has selected Fiorano SOA Platform to improve message processing capability and commitments to service level agreements (SLAs).

Unicel has deployed Fiorano SOA as their primary middleware architecture, distributed across multiple data centers. The technology enhances performance and reliability by allowing Unicel to achieve record message transmissions of 52 million messages per day at the operator end, surpassing the capabilities of its previous C, C++ and Java based applications.

“We have ambitious plans, and executing those in the current competitive environment required investment in a reliable, scalable, high performance infrastructure,” said Vinay Agrrawal, Managing Director, Unicel Technologies, in a statement. “With Fiorano we achieved a positive ROI on our SOA implementation in just a few months.”

Agrrawal added that Fiorano SOA helped the enterprise mobility solutions provider increase its message processing capability five fold and SLA commitments by 80 percent.  It has also given them a clear line of sight for increasing performance by another five fold in the coming months.

According to Atul Saini, CEO and CTO, Fiorano Software integration for wireless and mobile telecom players is a determinant of competitive advantage, revolutionizing interactions between different players in the value chain.

Unicel’s carrier-level integration of enterprise mobility solutions has enabled the company to offer enterprises more visibility into the status of messages sent out and higher levels of control. “The Fiorano SOA gives them the ideal middleware platform to achieve the scalability and speed they need to compete effectively in today's wireless marketplace,” Saini said.

Fiorano was selected after a rigorous proof-of-concept test conducted among different vendors including IBM (News - Alert), Fuse and Progress. Unicel concluded that some of the other ESBs were not designed ground-up for distributed computing, had lower throughput, while others required extensive custom coding and consulting services.

Unicelhas big plans for the future. In addition to the currently active SMS service, the enterprise mobility company plans to move services such as Voice, Data and their entire billing system onto the Fiorano platform, where middleware will be the key in generating call detail records.

Earlier this year, Fiorano announced the release of FioranoMQ 9.3, the newest version of its high performance enterprise communication backbone which the company claims as the world's fastest standalone standards-based JMS-compliant messaging server.
