Microsoft (News - Alert) recently launched its new Enterprise Mobility Suite that will help IT organizations in large businesses to manage all of the devices their employees carry with them, including Windows devices, Android (News - Alert) phone or tablets, iPads or iPhones.
Satya Nadella, Microsoft’s new CEO, made this announcement at a media event in San Francisco.
In a press statement, Brad Anderson, Microsoft’s Corporate Vice President for Windows Server & System Center, said “the EMS is the most comprehensive and complete platform for organizations to embrace these mobility and cloud trends.” Nadella echoed this sentiment in his presentation, where he noted that “the Enterprise Mobility Suite may be the most strategic piece of infrastructure development we are doing for enterprises today.”
This new suite will allow IT to ensure that corporate assets are well-protected, while employees can still install any application on their devices.
Currently, Microsoft offers similar products like Intune and the aptly named System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager. These tools help companies to manage mobile apps and set configuration and security policies for their devices.
Microsoft’s new suite is a perfect combination of all these capabilities together. It will allow companies to manage all of their devices from the cloud and will bring together access management, device management and security management.
Officials said that the suite boasts of three main elements including identity and access management delivered by Azure Active Directory Premium, Mobile Device Management and Mobile Application Management delivered by Windows Intune and Data protection delivered by Azure AD Rights Management Services.
Nadella also said that the Suite “can also extend your enterprise identity to other apps and services like Salesforce.com (News
- Alert), Box and Google Docs. Now, the same cloud that helps people get more done with less work, will help IT do the same.”
