Open Text Achieves Rapid Growth in Enterprise Fax Over IP: Report

By Anshu Shrivastava, TMCnet Contributor

Open Text Corp., a provider of enterprise content management (ECM) software, is further extending its lead in enterprise fax server software and achieving rapid growth in fax over Internet provider (FoIP) solutions, according to a report published by Davidson Consulting, a fax industry analyst firm.

The report, entitled “Computer-Based Fax Markets, 2009-2014,” states that over the past year, Open Text saw gains across the board in areas critical to enterprise fax customers. These areas include fax server, production fax, multifunction peripherals (MFP) integration and FoIP.

According to this latest report, the overall fax server market experienced year-over-year growth, with Open Text further solidifying its market leadership, despite challenging economic conditions.

The report predicts that the enterprise fax software has a bright outlook for the foreseeable future as companies centralize fax operations to save costs. Also, the report observes that fax retains a strong foothold in the enterprise for mission-critical transactions that require delivery confirmation and signatures as a way to meet compliance and security requirements.

Open Text Fax Server, RightFax Edition, is at the core of Open Text’s success. According to Davidson’s report it’s “the leading fax server software brand.” Additionally, the report also highlights a number of enhancements and new offerings that position Open Text for success in the coming year.

These enhancements include enhanced integration and data connectors for ECM software, including the Open Text ECM Suite, and rich MFP device integration to cover nearly 90 percent of MFP devices sold.

Additionally, the integration with Microsoft (News - Alert) Exchange Server 2010, Microsoft Windows 7 and Microsoft SharePoint is also going to help in the further success of Open Text, states the report.

The introduction of a complete range of Fax Gateways for FoIP simplify implementations and provide cost-effective alternatives to traditional fax boards and remote fax servers. The report notes that deploying an Open Text Fax Gateway (News - Alert) together with Open Text Fax Server represents a “complete FoIP solution which maximizes IP infrastructure, facilitates network consolidation, and simplifies branch office fax management.”

“Open Text Fax Server provides the best option in the industry to securely send, receive and store confidential business information while eliminating the need for standalone fax machines and paper-driven processes,” said Lubor Ptacek, vice president of product marketing at Open Text.

Earlier this year in March, Open Text introduced Open Text Everywhere, designed to make the entire Open Text ECM Suite available via mobile devices.
