Ipswitch Introduces IMail Server v10.02 With Integrated Commtouch Anti-Spam and Reputation Service

By Tim Gray, TMCnet Web Editor

Messaging solutions provider Ipswitch (News - Alert) Messaging Division has introduced its new IMail Server v10.02 designed to integrate Commtouch Ant-Spam technology into its product family.

The Massachusetts-based Ipswitch designed the release to integrate with Commtouch Advanced Security Daemon – a plug-and-play e-mail-borne spam and malware outbreak detection daemon that combines current core messaging network infrastructure with advanced detection and classification capabilities.

The Ipswitch integration with Commtouch’s Anti-Spam and GlobalView Mail Reputation will increase security as well as reducing unwanted e-mails, according to Tripp Allen, president of Ipswitch Messaging Division.

Allen also noted the sheer number of businesses globally relying on the company’s mail servers for rapid, reliable email handling. “We need to provide our customers the best email security technology and the best spam detection.”

The daemon adds a layer of e-mail filtering to a mail delivery system in order to provide real-time classification, already in the first minutes after a new outbreak is launched.

“With thousands of businesses globally relying on our mail servers for rapid, reliable email handling, we need to provide our customers the best email security technology and the best spam detection,” said Allen. “Spam volumes have increased dramatically, so we sought to provide our customers with an edge blocking solution to help reduce their bandwidth and infrastructure costs.”

The Commtouch GlobalView Mail Reputation edge solution will prevent over 85 percent of spam e-mail from ever entering our customers’ networks, according to the company.

“In addition, by selecting Commtouch Recurrent Pattern Detection technology we can provide them with significantly better spam detection,” said Allen. “So overall, our customers will get better spam detection and reduced infrastructure costs, at the same price as our previous email filtering solution.”

The IMail Server product line consists of e-mail servers providing the essential communication and collaboration tools for small and medium businesses, at a lower total cost of ownership than most enterprise-oriented solutions. The IMail Server Plus and Premium versions will offer spam blocking powered by Commtouch technology. Ipswitch markets its solutions in over 120 countries through a network of channel partners.

“Spam and phishing e-mail messages continue to barrage businesses worldwide. As a result, businesses need to implement a highly accurate email security solution that protects against all types of outbreaks, in every language and email format,” said Avner Amram, Commtouch’s executive vice president and general manager Americas. “We are pleased to work with Ipswitch in providing top-notch spam detection and perimeter spam blocking to Ipswitch customers.”
