RedSky's E911 Manager Solution Rated "Avaya Compliant"
By Tim Gray, TMCnet Web Editor
E911 location information management solutions provider RedSky Technologies today announced its E911 Manager is compliant with key Internet protocol (IP) telephony solutions from Avaya (News - Alert).
The move to integrate E911 Manager with the platform from Avaya, a global provider of business communications applications, systems and services, is designed to extend interoperability between the companies across the board for clients.
The Chicago-based company’s E911 Manager is a high-performance enterprise-wide server-based E911 solution that already capable of working within Avaya, Cisco and Nortel networking environments.
“Avaya customers will continue to benefit from E911 Manager’s compliance with Communication Manager because both solutions are based on open, standards-based platforms that will help them incorporate new technology easily and cost-effectively and uncover new possibilities for getting more out of their communications infrastructure,” said Nick Maier, senior vice president of RedSky (News - Alert).
In recent years the demand for automatic location identification legislation has grown into a steady chorus from the E911 industry and many emergency responders on the local, state and national levels. As the federal government strains to implement a national program designed, fourteen states have now enacted some form of E911 legislation requiring enterprises over a certain size, occupying multiple floors of a building, or those purchasing a new PBX (News - Alert) (to implement E911 to protect their employees and visitors. The idea is to assure residents using VoIP services will have same access to emergency services as traditional phone service and wireless service.
The E911 Manager is designed for just such purposes. The tool integrates with an organization’s complete phone system to provide a completely automated approach to E911.
Because, unlike most traditional wireline phones that already provide the caller's location to emergency services, enterprise VoIP requires the specific location of phones to be programmed into an organization's telephony network. This ensures emergency responders can quickly find the caller within a building or campus.
The Manager tracks phone locations inside and outside the enterprise, updates ALI databases, notifies security when a 911 call is made, and logs every transaction and move.
The application now is compliance-tested by Avaya for compatibility with Communication Manager 5.0.
The teaming of RedSky and Avaya have created solutions for a broad range of businesses, one being NACR, a value-added solution provider and Avaya’s largest business partner.
“Customers count on NACR to deliver best-in-class solutions,” said Michael Fitzgibbons, national vice president, NACR. “Knowing that a solution has been tested for interoperability increases our confidence that the products we recommend can be deployed quickly and will perform as designed for our customers.
”We value our long standing partnership with RedSky and look forward to driving more opportunities with them.”

As part of Avaya DevConnect (News - Alert) program, an initiative to develop, market and sell innovative third-party products that interoperate with Avaya technology and extend the value of a company’s investment in its network, RedSky is eligible to submit products for compatibility testing by the Avaya Solution Interoperability and Test Lab in Lincroft, N.J.
“By offering compliance testing to the many innovative companies like RedSky who are members of our DevConnect program, Avaya promotes fully interoperable solutions that help businesses unleash powerful new possibilities,” said Eric Rossman, vice president, developer relations and technical alliances, Avaya.
A team of Avaya engineers develops a comprehensive test plan for each application to verify whether it is Avaya compliant and works to ensure businesses can add best-in-class capabilities to their network without having to replace their existing infrastructure.
“They are able to use Intelligent Communications to connect employees and customers to information from wherever they are, over whatever device they have available – getting more out of their multivendor network and delivering new value to their bottom line.”
As TMCnet recently reported, E911 location information management solutions provider RedSky Technologies today announced its E911 Manager has successfully completed additional compatibility testing with Nortel’s (News - Alert) Communication Server 1000 (CS 1000).
