With more technological sectors gravitating towards the cloud these days, E911 is certainly not the last to finish the race. E911 technology is proliferating throughout counties and developing cities to provide more effective communication for the emergency operations of municipalities. RedSky (News - Alert) has recently issued a cloud-based E911 service called E911 Manager Version 6 based in its managed private cloud.
Version 6 of RedSky’s flagship solution can be deployed within the enterprise in a virtual environment or on a dedicated server. By integrating with major call servers and PBXs, the solution tracks the detailed location of all types of phones on the network. Phone (News - Alert) types include analog, digital, SIP-based, H.323, Wi-Fi and softphones.
Nick Maier, senior vice president of RedSky, commented recently on the state of evolving cloud-based technologies including E911. “We are witnessing a major transition of enterprise applications moving to the cloud. Offering E911 Manager as a service through our managed private cloud gives organizations who need comprehensive, automated E911 protection two highly scalable and reliable deployment options. We believe an increasing number of organizations will take advantage of E911 in the cloud to help manage their capital expenditures and IT staffing costs.”
The solution can update the location information with its tracking capabilities for the most accurate dispatch emergency response. Call takers at public safety answering points can use these automatic updates to dispatch 911 services.
Announced at the International Avaya (News - Alert) Users Group Global Education Conference in Boston, MA this week, the issuing of the upgraded solution from RedSky will enable its customers to take advantage of the hosted aspects of its lauded E911 solution. Features include optional modules that extend the capabilities of the E911 Manager to meet the needs fo the enterprise.
The solution is also capable of seamlessly integrating with providers such as Avaya, Cisco (News - Alert), and Siemens to support SIP endpoints and voice platforms. One instance of E911 Manager Version 6 can support multiple call servers and PBXs in single or hybrid networks.
