VIXXI Solutions Delivers E911 Compliant VoIP Solutions

By Tim Gray, TMCnet Web Editor

VIXXI Solutions has received many platitudes in recent months including Technology Marketing Corporation’s (TMC (News - Alert)) INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine awarding the company with its highest honor by naming VIXXI’s Geospatial E911 Routing System, as a recipient of its 2007 Product of the Year Award.

Completed and launched in the early 2nd quarter of 2007, VIXXI’s national IP-based E911 solution, the VIXXI Geospatial E911 Routing System, truly represents a processing breakthrough for the emergency network system. Composed of the EG200 and VIXXI-Link service, this solution meets the recently passed United States.

The U.S. House 911 Modernization and Safety Act provides for the capability to quickly move the nation from the current 911 system to an interoperable IP-based network that can accommodate voice, video and data. “As a long-term innovator in the public safety industry this solution will provide the ability to be compliant with emerging FCC (News - Alert) i3 specifications for E911 VoIP calls, with no capital expenditures,” said Richard A. Peters (News - Alert), president and CEO of VIXXI Solutions.

The patented VIXXI EG200 arrives at the PSAP location completely configured, said Peters, creating a fully functional solution requires only a broadband connection, and a few minutes of time invested by the PSAP staff. After a successful implementation of the VIXXI EG200 in a PSAP location, the PSAP can notify VPCs (VoIP Positioning Centers) that they can now route all E911 calls.

Going forward, VIXXI manages the call routing for the PSAP with VIXXI-Link, according to the company.

“Our Geospatial E911 Routing System gives the PSAP the ability to handle VoIP without a forklift upgrade to the PSAP”, Peters said. “The PSAP will not incur any additional telephone company charges or additional training for calltakers. In essence, this levels the playing field to ensure that every 911 operator in America is given the tools to successfully respond to emergency events.”

The EG200 is a multi-line SIP appliance that supports and facilitates interconnection to existing PSAP equipment, even via analog CAMA interfaces. The EG200 reduces trunking and longdistance charges for the PSAP, provides low-cost conversion from VoIP SIP calls to premise switch trunk protocols at the PSAP (with no change required in equipment or PBX configurations), is supported on a 24 / 7 basis and has received all major North American certifications (UL, EMC (News - Alert), and Telco).

VIXXI-Link includes a web portal for end user registration, total ALI management with MSAG validation and ERDB functions, and emergency call routing. It is perfect for expanding CLEC’s, and VoIP service providers, or for traditional ILECs converting their platforms to IP-based switching infrastructures who want to avoid the costs of E911 hookup under the old business models while accommodating new technology subscribers. VIXXI-Link exceeds suggested standards established by NENA’s NG911 Committee and the IP-Enabled Voice Communications and Public Safety Act of 2007.
