E911 Hosted Solutions Provider 911 ETC Partners with AMTELCO

By Amy Tierney, TMCnet Web Editor

911 ETC, an Everett, Wash.-based E911 hosted solutions provider, has teamed up with AMTELCO, a provider of RED ALERT, a comprehensive emergency mass notification system, in a new joint marketing agreement.

Under the partnership, 911 ETC will offer its Software-as-a-Service platform for Enhanced 911, or E911, services to bolster AMTELCO’s RED ALERT system, which helps businesses notify and communicate with any number of recipients in minutes. E911 services use location-based technology to pinpoint the exact whereabouts of distressed callers, which often speeds emergency response.

Bill Svien, executive vice president of 911 ETC, calls the partnership “significant” for the industry.

“It provides each of our companies’ clients the opportunity to expand the reach and breadth of their emergency and security requirements,” Svien said in a statement. “911 ETC’s CrisisConnect solutions for enterprise E-911 together with AMTELCO’s RED ALERT for campus emergency event notification provides enhanced safety and security for each of our client’s employees, students and guests.”

911 ETC’s CrisisConnect offering is made up of a suite of products and services that include professional services, ASP hosted database management and E-911 database automation technology. The service also features PBX (News - Alert) adjunct equipment, which performs Onsite Emergency Notification, non-DID to DID translation and ANI call masking using an ISDN PRI Translator or CAMA Trunks.

With 911 ETC’s services, AMTELCO officials said they can offer customers a high-tech option to enhance safety. AMTELCO’s RED ALERT solution is often used in healthcare organizations, higher education institutions, the military, government, the hospitality industry and large commercial businesses.

“AMTELCO now has the ability to offer our customers a state-of-the-art E-911 solution to provide their employees peace of mind in an emergency situation knowing they will be located,” AMTELCO President Tom Curtin said in a statement. “We look forward to a very successful relationship with 911 ETC.”

911 ETC has had numerous colleges and universities require RED ALERT’s mass notification system as part of their total solution. The technology helps school officials quickly notify students, or parents, of an emergency. While the company’s solution provides location information attached to outgoing 911 calls, alerting authorities to the emergency actually occurs on campus, officials said.

The ongoing database management for E911 can be difficult to maintain, but RED ALERT adds the management piece to the package that gives users the option to send out that mass notification if necessary, company official said.
