Spirent's Location Technology Solution Validated for SUPL 2.0 Testing

Rajat Agarwal, director of product management at Spirent, said that SUPL 2.0 compliance is a critical element of upcoming mobile device deployments for high speed LTE (News - Alert) networks and the company is dedicated to providing test solutions that help its customers achieve success.
The company believes that with this announcement it has achieved the “threshold” for Global Certification Forum (GCF) SUPL 2.0 tests. It acknowledges that compliance with SUPL 2.0 is a key component for delivering next-generation location based services LBS.
“The ability to support the next-generation LBS and stricter requirements for E911 is a crucial objective for operators and device manufacturers,” Agarwal said.
For device manufacturers, globally, this latest announcement has activated the mandate to certify all upcoming SUPL 2.0 enabled devices, according to company officials.
In addition to supporting a wide range of capabilities, from geography-based advertising to location accuracy during emergency LTE calls, SUPL 2.0 supports additional global navigation satellite systems such as GLONASS and BeiDou-2.
