911 Enable Receives Preferred Solution Developer Status from Cisco

By Rory Lidstone, TMCnet Contributing Writer

Provider of E911 solutions for VoIP and unified communications, 911 Enable (News - Alert) today became a Preferred Solution Developer within the unified communications category of Cisco's Developer Network Program.

The company's solutions, compatible with Cisco Unified Communications (News - Alert) Manager, include the Emergency Gateway (EGW) and the Emergency Routing Service (ERS).

EGW is an onsite appliance designed to help organizations automate and simplify E911 management, and includes automatic IP phone tracking for hard phones, soft phones and wireless phones, as well as onsite security notification. It also offers 911 call recording, detailed reporting and monitoring capabilities and support for off-campus workers.

EGW is able to provide all of this across even complex networks, namely deployments running multiple clusters with different versions of Cisco (News - Alert) Unified Communications Manager.

Meanwhile, ERS is a hosted E911 call routing service that provides E911 connectivity to organizations by way of 6,000 Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) across the United States and Canada. It ensures that 911 call information — including the precise location of the call down to the building, floor and room level — is delivered to the appropriate PSAP regardless of where the caller is located.

In other words, ERS allows organizations to provide E911 support and comply with the strictest E911 legislation across multiple locations.

As a Preferred Solution Developer, 911 Enable worked closely with Cisco to deliver its solutions that offer greater interoperability with Cisco networking solutions. As such, EGW and ERS completed interoperability verification testing based on Cisco's criteria, allowing customers to more quickly deploy a broad range of Cisco-compatible business applications.

Earlier this month, 911 Enable began providing its E911 call routing services to MyAssist, a specialist provider of concierge, emergency travel and medical assistance services. As such, MyAssist can now offer these services to its subscribers.

Toward the end of 2012, 911 Enable announced that its E911 solutions are capable of supporting Microsoft Lync 2013.
