TeleCommunication Systems (News - Alert), Inc. (TCS) has won a three-year contract from North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) to supply Next Generation 911 (NG911) systems and services.

NCTCOG will use TCS NENA i3-based solution that will enable area PSAPs to support future emergency requests. This will also enable NCTCOG's emergency services network to comply with the National Emergency Number Association's (NENA) i3 standards.

Christy Williams, NCTCOG 911 program manager, said that with a diverse region ranging from the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex to counties with a sparse, rural population, they needed the ability to have NG911 systems and services that could be easily adaptable to various existing systems, while still complying with NENA's i3 standards.

"TCS' NG911 systems and services not only accomplish that in an efficient and cost-effective manner; they also provide us with the ability to keep up with changing and emerging technologies."

Using the TCS NG911 solution, NCTCOG can increase control over the system, bypass costly legacy architecture and deploy the solution as systems, services or a mix of the two within any existing IP network.

Nabinger said that their NG911 solution provides them with the flexibility and range of features they require in order to accomplish these goals and this award expands the growing TCS NG911 footprint and demonstrates that the PSAP community acknowledges their expertise in messaging, location, cybersecurity and public safety as solid foundations for delivering mission-critical NG911 services.
