The options in telecommunications today extend far beyond the expected capabilities of the previous generation. The arrival of the car phone suggested the potential for mobility, but the assumption was that only the elite would have access. Today, we don’t go anywhere without our phones and Voice over IP (VoIP) is becoming the norm, driving the demand for DIDs.

As corporations continue to evolve in their approach to communications, supporting unified platforms and mobility, the demand for extending internal capabilities to the mobile employee continues to grow. This places new expectations on providers for both capabilities and hardware, allowing for the introduction of new and exciting options.

Mitel (News - Alert) designed its 3300 controllers as IP PBXs that combine full IP services as well as legacy connection support. This includes analog and ISDN/PRI. In a nutshell, the controllers can satisfy just about any type of environment and connectivity requirements an organization may have, regardless of the complexity of the communication needs.

For instance, Mitel has a new VoIP lineup of its 3300 controllers. While the line was initially introduced in 2001, the company has made continued investments in the expanded capabilities of the line so as to keep pace with an ever-expanding IP PBX (News - Alert) market. The Mitel 3300 CX II and the 3300 CXi II provide similar capabilities and can support up to 150 devices, 2,000 SIP trunks, 16 voicemail ports and 750 mailboxes.

With an integrated network switch, router and firewall, the 3300 CXi II is ideally positioned for deployment where no existing router or switch infrastructure exists. With an Ethernet-WAN port, all router and firewall functionality necessary to connect the business to the Internet is provided and serves as a suitable option for small offices. The capabilities expand from there, providing options for businesses of all sizes that are ready to expand beyond traditional communications techniques and leverage the capabilities of today’s innovations.

Once the equipment is selected, Vitcom can serve as a viable partner.. The company’s self-service portal allows for deployment in just minutes, quickly moving you from sign up to production peering. The portal allows you to order DIDs, select trunk and settings within minutes and launch the DIDs for full operation. You no longer have to place a telecommunications order and wait for someone to show up, complete the process and get you connected – which could take days or even weeks.

If you’re ready to step up to the next generation in communications, the technology is available and self-service options are live and ready. Do your homework and assess your needs to know for sure what you should select. Once that’s done, start enjoying instant connectivity, streamlined operations and lower costs. With so much to gain, there’s no reason to wait.
