Mention the word “free” when it comes to telecommunications and people sit up and pay attention.
In a world of data plans, minute limits and texting beyond the capabilities of the human thumb, free calls on a mobile device opens up a whole new realm of opportunity. Iristel, a DID provider, is hoping to capitalize on this opportunity with its latest announcement to provide free calls.
Iristel plans to offer free calls to the Voxbone (News - Alert) iNum network. The DID provider also joins the communications service providers offering the United Nations country code +888, a service currently being implemented for agencies offering humanitarian aid in the wake of natural disasters.
“We are delighted to continue our pioneering efforts to provide service, whether in remote or urban areas, that link next-generation cloud computing to traditional telecom infrastructures,” said Samer Bishay.
Bishay is the president of Iristel, a CLEC (Competitive Local Exchange Carrier) and DID provider since 2000.
The iNum (News - Alert) numbers will also be offered to customers of Ice Wireless, an Iristel partner company.
iNum, or international Number, is a new approach to the global number for a world without borders. Traditional phone numbers have always been tied to a particular city or country, forcing consumers to acquire a new number anytime they moved outside of their local exchange.
With iNum numbers, the number follows the customer.
In working with Voxbone, Iristel will route international calls from other carriers through cost-effective means, allowing small and medium-sized businesses and not-for-profit organizations to create a local presence whenever they operate in new locations. A single, portable number is reachable from anywhere in the world and uses the +883 (5100) international number range assigned by the International Telecommunication Union.
“We know Canadians volunteer in disaster relief efforts around the world,” Bishay said, “and now loved ones here in Canada can stay in touch with family and friends who are offering aid and comfort in often dangerous areas for no charge.”
Iristel has built a strong reputation in the industry with its DID service positioned for those companies offering calling cards, inbound call centers, VoIP carriers, CLECs and virtual carriers that require a local presence when operating outside of their country of origin.
Located in Canada, Iristel serves companies throughout the global market seeking to receive local calls within the country.
This latest service addition adds to the value Iristel brings to the market, allowing the company to enjoy a unique competitive advantage.
