A handful of new international phone numbers have been added by wholesale Colombian direct inward dialing (DID) providers in conjunction with DIDX.
While DID numbers
are designed to assist wholesale service providers of VoIP communications to connect to the PSTN, they also cast a wider net bringing with it the potential ability to connect SIP, instant messengers and social community portals.
The range of consumers in this space varies greatly from SMBs and SMEs to students, families and entrepreneurs; each with the ability to connect to the traditional PSTN through VoIP networks.
That is, in part, what has made them so popular throughout the world
and in emergeing markets.
The Colombia cities of Buenaventura, Buga, Cartago, Palmira and Tulua Clombia were all recently added to the growing list of DIDX DID numbers in South America, by incorporating DIDX ID number 710892.
According to Rehan Ahmed, CEO of Super Technologies, Inc., some of Colombia's largest enterprises – including Leasing Bancolombia., Diageo Colombia., Cadbury Telefónica Telecom, Microsoft (News
) and Hewlett Packard among others – have taken advantage of the direct inward dialing tools provided by DIDX wholesale IP communications members.
For example, Buenaventura is a main port on the Pacific Ocean in Colombia and Buga runs along a main highway between Bogotá and Buenaventura. While, Cartago is known for its discos, condos, and warm weather, Palmira is just 17 miles east of Cali and is known for its plethora of colleges and universities and higher standard of living.
What does all this have to do with DID numbers?
"Latin America is one of the most popular DID purchase areas on DIDX because of the large expatriate population around the world and collaboration with and among large enterprises," said Suzanne Bowen, vice president of Super Technologies, Inc.
In fact, DIDXchange (News
) is a service created by Super Technologies' CEO Rehan Ahmed and it serves as a wholesale direct inward dialing exchange for 12,500 telephony service providers in 170 nations who have access to millions of phone numbers from 1000s of global cities.
Now those cities also include Buenaventura, Buga, Cartago, Palmira and Tulua, Colombia.
Mauricio, a DIDX member in Colombia, was attracted to DIDX because every wholesale telephony company member of DIDX has its own Web dashboard for real-time ordering and configuration, according to Ahmed.
