Red Hat (News - Alert), a provider of open source solutions, has released Red Hat JBoss Data Virtualization 6, which will serve as a platform for data integration and unified access covering disparate data sources that can convert big data into actionable information.
“Information management and delivery are critical functions of modern business operations,” said Craig Muzilla, senior vice president of the applications platform products group at Red Hat. “If organizations are going to have any success translating meaningless data into actionable information, integration tools like JBoss Data Virtualization play a key role in making the data readily accessible.”
Organizations possess huge volumes of data in traditional stores like Apache Hadoop, relational databases and NoSQL stores including MongoDB. It is difficult to integrate and transform data from numerous disparate stores and put it to productive use.
Data has to be made accessible for external applications like analytics and business intelligence software so that valuable and actionable information can be derived from the data. JBoss Data Virtualization enables simultaneous access to these disparate stores and streamlines the use of big data.
Customers can also collaborate with industry leaders like Hortonworks, a contributor and provider of enterprise Apache Hadoop. By combining Hortonworks data platform (HDP) with JBoss data virtualization, Hadoop can integrate with existing data sources to offer virtual data models for accessing external applications easily.
JBoss data virtualization is capable of delivering native out-of-the-box connectivity rapidly to data sources using diverse access methods and storage models. All this data can be abstracted and made available for easy access so that developers can focus on the creation and delivery of their applications.
Officials explained that JBoss data virtualization can support IT projects and initiatives by providing self-service business intelligence as a virtual, reusable data model. The unified 360 view provides a full view of all transactional data in real-time. The virtual data layer provides business information that helps users to understand and leverage enterprise data. The Agile (News - Alert) SOA data services serves as a data virtualization layer that delivers data services to service-oriented architecture (SOA) applications.
Hortonworks, a contributor to and provider of enterprise Apache Hadoop, and Red Hat, a provider of open source solutions, announced that they have expanded their relationship through the formation of a strategic alliance encompassing the integration of product lines, joint go-to-market initiatives and collaborative customer support. The companies also announced the availability of the beta program for the Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP) plug-in for Red Hat Storage.
