Customer Service Software: SurveyMonkey and Clicktools to Cross-Promote

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor

SurveyMonkey, a company focused on Web-based survey solutions, has acquired a 49.9 percent interest in Clicktools, a survey provider on Salesforce.com's (News - Alert) AppExchange.

Officials with SurveyMonkey said that Clicktools and the company will also form a strategic partnership designed to benefit customers by providing cloud-based survey tools integrated with Salesforce CRM.

As part of the investment, SurveyMonkey and Clicktools have entered an agreement to cross promote their products.

SurveyMonkey's vice president of business strategy, Brent Chudoba, and vice president of business operations and finance, Tim Maly, will join Clicktools' Board of Directors.

Other terms of the investment were however not disclosed.

Clicktools, founded in the UK in 2000, provides an enterprise solution for creating surveys, scripts and forms with tight Salesforce integration which can automate the whole feedback process.

"Integration with Salesforce CRM for surveys is a frequent customer request, and Clicktools is the best company in the market already doing it," said Dave Goldberg, CEO of SurveyMonkey in a statement.

Goldberg said that a partnership with Clicktools enables the company to leverage its leadership providing online surveys with their best-in-class product to offer customers of both companies a streamlined solution for Salesforce CRM survey integration."

Company officials stressed that SurveyMonkey is committed to providing survey solutions for customers and plans to continue expanding services.

In November, the company successfully completed a debt financing and it is actively evaluating additional opportunities to partner and invest in complementary businesses and geographies. SurveyMonkey acquired telephone-based survey company Precision Polling in 2010.

"We recognized early on the tremendous power of integrating surveys with CRM applications such as Salesforce," said David Jackson of Clicktools CEO.

Jackson said that Clicktools' partnership with SurveyMonkey will allow the company to bring those benefits to SurveyMonkey customers, increase the total addressable market and expand Clicktools' footprint.

"Customers will benefit from the combined efforts of Clicktools and SurveyMonkey as they expand survey capabilities for Salesforce CRM," said Kendall Collins, chief marketing officer of salesforce.com.
