Enterprise cloud computing company Salesforce.com has announced that its chairman and CEO, Marc Benioff (News - Alert), will speak at GigaOm's Net:Work 2010.
Additionally, Benioff is expected to be interviewed by Victoria Barret of Forbes in a fireside chat on how cloud, social and mobile trends are changing the workplace.
Company officials said that over 60,000 companies have deployed Salesforce Chatter since it became available six months ago. An enterprise social collaboration app and platform, Chatter leverages the social features popularized by Facebook (News - Alert) and Twitter -- such as profiles, status updates and real-time feeds -- and enables employees to “follow” documents, people, business processes and application data.
Company officials said that the result is a new level of productivity that crosses departments and organizational barriers.
Calling it a “breakthrough technology,” company officials said that Salesforce Chatter has allowed salesforce.com to expand beyond sales organizations, and bring a new wave of collaboration to employees across the enterprise. Moreover, companies such as Dell (News - Alert) and Reed Exhibition have already rolled out Chatter enterprise-wide.
Net:Work 2010 is expected to assemble GigaOm editors and research analysts, prominent business and technology companies, such as Amazon, Cisco, Google (News - Alert) and Skype, to explore the challenges and opportunities presented by a new culture of work.
Last month, Hewlett Packard said that it drafted an extensive deal with CRM provider Salesforce.com (News - Alert) that would replace Oracle Siebel as its customer relationship manager of choice.
