CRM Solutions: Jollibee Backs International Growth with NetSuite OneWorld

By Amy Tierney, TMCnet Web Editor

Looking to build in its international reach, Jollibee Foods Corp., a Filipino operator of one world’s largest fast-food chains, announced it signed a contract with NetSuite Inc, is a cloud computing business management software suites vendor, to deploy NetSuite OneWorld solution across its global operation.

The Manila-based restaurant operator is using NetSuite (News - Alert) One, a cloud computing solution, to help manage its global operations in real time. The solution gives Jollibee a cost-effective way to automate reporting, perform real-time analytics, conduct audit trail analysis, operate an international supply chain, consolidate international financials, and enforce corporate governance standards in its subsidiaries and divisions in the U.S. and in emerging markets such as Vietnam and China, the company said.

For example, Jollibee, an American-style fast-food restaurant with Filipino-influenced dishes specializing in burgers and fried chicken, uses NetSuite One to manage day-to-day business operations with a single, consolidated view for its five subsidiaries in Vietnam. The solution took two months to implement, Jollibee said.

And Jollibee plans to roll out the solution in other locations this year.

“NetSuite OneWorld gives us a way to deliver a standard platform across the organization in a timeframe and at a cost that supports our continued growth and development,” said Ysmael Baysa, Jollibee’s chief financial officer, said in a statement.

When Jollibee sought to expand its Oracle (News - Alert) for financial management and reporting system to international locations, it soon discovered the effort would be too costly. So, company officials turned to NetSuite for a solution. Jollibee needed a solution that offered robust infrastructure on a tight schedule. The solution was NetSuite OneWorld.

NetSuite’s One World support for multiple currencies, multiple regions, subsidiary relationships and rapid deployment made it an ideal choice for Jollibee’s fast-growing business, which is opening nearly 200 new stores each year. In addition, NetSuite OneWorld easily integrated with Oracle, company officials said.

Jollibee officials said they plan to deploy NetSuite OneWorld in 30 subsidiaries across 190 stores in China in August. Other markets including Taiwan, the United States and other Asian locations will follow. For now, Jollibee’s U.S. subsidiary is using NetSuite for real-time financial reporting, the company said.

Jollibee began as ice cream parlor in 1975 in Manila. Since then, Jolliee has acquired six Filipino brands, including its namesake restaurant. Its operation includes more than 1,800 restaurants worldwide. In the United States, the company operates 26 Jollibee restaurants, 32 Red Ribbon bake shops and 17 Chowking Chinese fast food outlets.
