Show Me the Money: Cloud Communications Cuts Costs

Cloud communications isn’t just fancy tech-term used in the industry. Cloud communications is a real thing, not just a catchphrase, which has helped a lot of organizations when it comes to using data and keeping costs down. With the cloud being a highly secure, location-independent solution, it offers options that far outweigh traditional IT services, and thus it makes for an attractive option for computing and communications needs.

So, what comes of all the money reportedly being saved by migrating over to a cloud communications platform? Rackspace (News - Alert) found some interesting answers in a recent survey detailing organizations’ cloud usage. According to Forbes, which originally reported on the survey, Rackspace found that a whopping 62 percent of respondents are taking their saved cash and dumping it right back into the business. Overall savings clocked in at 23 percent both in the U.K. and U.S.

The cloud is not only good for saving money; it’s good for the bottom line, too. Respondents said cloud computing improved profits by 22 percent.

Small businesses in particular are at an advantage when they utilize the cloud for work. By using information more effectively, workflow and the teams behind them come together. It takes fewer people to do more work on a cloud, with a minimal learning curve on hardware and software issues.

“Infrastructure maintenance for most IT-oriented companies consumes 70 percent of their budget; cloud computing can address this issue,” Zafarul Islam, lead technology strategist at Microsoft (News - Alert) said, according to The Express Tribune.

“Cloud computing is all about building a shared pool of configurable computing resources – network, servers, storage, applications and services – and letting the end-user consume these resources, whenever he wants,” Islam said.

Key drivers for the adoption rates of cloud communications are lowering IT costs and reducing the need to invest in servers and data equipment. It’s no wonder, then, that the intangible cloud has shown up in mobile management, CRM, call centers, music and photo sharing and a bevy of other software solutions so far.

The old adage "time is money" rings true when it comes to cloud communications. Efficiency, simplicity, and the ability to get up and running quickly are key, and the ability to just show up with your stuff makes it an attractive option for businesses that need something that is always on, always there, no matter what.
