Sennheiser, which makes headsets, headphones and microphones, including contact center headsets, has released its PXC 310 and PXC 310 BT (News - Alert) travel headphones, which bring together Sennheiser’s acoustics-enhanced travel headphones and apt-X Bluetooth encoding technology to bring to users a quality wireless listening experience on the move.
According to press release, the acclaimed performance of Sennheiser’s PXC 450 is now available in a premium, compact size travel headphone: the brand new PXC-310. The sealed on-ear mini headphones leverage the company’s NoiseGard 2.0 noise-canceling technology that reduces the noise of trains or planes by up to 90 percent and offers detailed life-like sound image. The integrated TalkThrough function enables the listeners to talk to others without removing the headphones while also being able to distinguish between background noise and speech.
The PXC 310 headphones are foldable and come with an integrated volume control, and also function as normal headphones without NoiseGard activated. An extensive set of accessories - detachable audio cable, in-flight adapter, multi-country charger, rechargeable lithium polymer battery and carrying case - completes the package.
The PXC 310 BT delivers the same top-quality sound as the PXC 310, with the added benefit of wire-free, listen-only transmission.
In the release, Maurice Quarré, head of product management for consumer electronics at Sennheiser, explained that the new apt-X codec provides Bluetooth transmission with minimum delay and excellent audio quality. Music and speech are reproduced in outstanding quality, while still allowing listeners complete freedom of movement.
Both models feature convenient controls directly on the earpieces. The controls allow listeners to activate and deactivate the NoiseGard and TalkThrough functions and to regulate the volume -- and on the PXC-310 BT the control unit can also be used to activate Bluetooth transmission and navigate the playlists.
The headphones come with a battery charger with adapters for a wide range of countries, which ensures users can recharge the lithium polymer batteries for wireless listening no matter where they are.
The apt-X coding technology for compressing audio data was originally developed for use in the professional audio and broadcasting sectors. Sennheiser is one of the first manufacturers to incorporate this technology into consumer headphones. The company has claimed that they never compromise on sound quality and the apt-X on their headphones will allow customers to enjoy the audiophile Bluetooth stereo.
