Agilent Technologies' Solutions Used to Develop Sennheiser's Evolution Wireless G3 Series Receivers

By Patrick Barnard, Group Managing Editor, TMCnet

Test and measurement solutions provider Agilent Technologies (News - Alert) has announced that Germany-based Sennheiser used Agilent's Genesys (News - Alert) RF and microwave design software and Momentum GX electromagnetic (EM) simulator to develop a series of third-generation, wireless multichannel audio receivers for on-stage professional vocal and musical performance.

According to a press release, Agilent’s solutions enabled Sennheiser to develop its Evolution Wireless G3 Series receivers, which feature RF sensitivity and interference immunity, in virtually half the time it would have taken using the company's previous design methodology.

Agilent's Genesys software is an RF and microwave tool specifically created for the RF and microwave circuit board and subsystem designer. Its Momentum GX is a 3D-planar EM simulator that is integrated with Genesys.

"The design flow enabled by Genesys significantly reduces design iterations while minimizing development cost -- benefits for any RF and microwave designer," said Gilbert Berger, sales executive at Agilent's EEsof EDA division in Germany, in the release. "We are pleased to provide these benefits to Sennheiser and to play such a critical role in the launch of its third-generation series multichannel audio receivers."

Sennheiser’s Evolution Wireless G3 Series receivers provide secure wireless sound transmission for live performances. Available in numerous models these receivers support a simple microphone set to a fully integrated multichannel application. The new line sports intuitive menu navigation and new graphic displays to make operation simpler. What’s more, wireless transmitter synchronization from the receiver saves time during set-up, whether in a club or on a big outdoor stage.

In addition to wireless microphone systems Sennheiser manufactures high quality headsets -- including headsets designed for the contact center, mobile multimedia headsets, wireless Bluetooth systems, and headsets for the professional gaming community -- as well as wired microphones, conference systems and consumer and professional headphones.

Sennheiser made news last week when it announced that it had wrapped up its "Sennheiser Sound Tour" with the tour’s final stop in Montreal, Canada. The goal of the guerilla marketing campaign was to help increase consumer awareness about the company’s high quality headsets.
