Conference phones manufacturer Konftel recently announced that it received a Product Differentiation Innovation Award from Frost & Sullivan. The company was recognized for its achievement in creating an innovative product (the Konftel 50 conference unit) that differ from competitors in terms of functionality.
This latest recognition for Konftel comes on the heels, earlier this year, of the company winning a Best Vendor 2006 award from GO Telecom.
“This recognition strengthens our brand and sharpens our competitive edge,” said Konftel CEO Peter Renkel, in a statement about the Frost & Sullivan award.
Each year, Frost & Sullivan bestows its Product Differentiation Award to the company it deems best demonstrated ability to develop and advance products with a great degree of innovation than other vendors. The award takes into consideration the winning company’s successful adoption of new or existing technology to create a well-designed product family. Anticipated influence on and contribution to the industry is also considered.
“All major distributors in the industry know of Frost & Sullivan and know what it means to receive this award,” Renkel said. “The award recognizes our innovative ability and, naturally, this is a great honor.”
To select the winner each year, Frost & Sullivan tracks the differentiation strategies of companies applying for the award. This research includes participant interviews and end-user surveys.
What features does the Konftel 50 conference phone unit offer that landed it this award? In it announcement, Konftel listed the following product features as reasons why it was recognized by Frost & Sullivan:
- Provides a single-unit, highly flexible solution that meets customer needs for maximizing return on investment
- Incorporates a range of connectivity options, making it a communications workhorse for small and mobile teams
- Utilizes a multipurpose analog and digital interface, rather than just PSTN, to support connection to a wide range of devices
- Availability of an accompanying connectivity cable line that allows the unit to be hooked up to most cellphone and cordless phone handsets
- Focus on maximizing audio quality without sacrificing ease of use
Renkel noted that, when it was first introduced to the market, Konftel 50 was unique as a conference phone device that bundled so much functionality into a single unit.
“It provided inroads to many new markets, which then also discovered our other products,” Renkel said. “Since then, we’ve refined our innovation into yet another new product, the Konftel 60W. That we’ve now received the most coveted award in the world for our phone provides satisfying confirmation of our success.”
Konftel started producing loudspeaker communication and audio technology in 1988. Today the company, which is headquartered in Sweden, uses its acoustics and digital signal processing expertise to develop and sell conference phone equipment. Konftel’s audio technology, OmniSound, provides crystal-clear sound in all its products.
