Telcom & Data VoIP Conference Phones

By Jessica Kostek, TMCnet Channel Editor

Efficient business phone systems are the lifeline of any organization. They provide the necessary communication between the company and its members, clients, stakeholders and all other groups that are essential to the company.

For one Chicago-based conference phones provider, basic telephonic needs for small to mid-sized businesses usually consist of voice-mail, call forwarding, call divert, etc, however the need for a conferencing phone to facilitate conference calling is utilized efficiently only by a VoIP phone system.

According to new analysis from Frost & Sullivan (News - Alert), the world videoconferencing market is growing at a healthy pace. The research firm’s latest report found the market earned revenues of over $265.4 million in 2008 – marking 11 percent growth over the previous year.

In addition, the report found the videoconferencing CSP (News - Alert)-based managed services market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 16.4 percent – up from $151.3 million in 2008 to $375.5 million by 2014.

Frost & Sullivan Principal Analyst Roopam Jain said that there are several market forces coming together today that have allowed the market to become “ripe for change.”

According to Telcom & Data officials a VoIP conferencing is particularly helpful for small and mid-sized businesses due to the low cost involved.

“This point can be understood through a simple comparison between a PBX (News - Alert) or a KSU system and VoIP business phone systems. In order to install a PBX or KSU, an organization needs to set up a separate department to handle all the complex equipments. Installing a VoIP system requires minimum of fuss and the call rentals are much lower as compared to other systems. Another advantage of VoIP business phone systems is that they are completely flexible and can accommodate an increasing number of connections quite efficiently,” Telcom & Data officials said.

"Now is the inflection point for large-scale videoconferencing technology adoption," said Jain.

With Telcom & Data conference phone, additional devices can be attached to the PC such as a Web camera to facilitate video conferencing. Beneficial for small and mid-sized businesses, each conference phone save on the expensive traveling bills that are incurred due to frequent meetings held in different parts of the globe.

A VoIP conferencing phone can facilitate an efficient video conference that can act as a close replica to a face-to-face meeting. Users can now also attach a wireless headset for unconstrained mobility, officials said.

In addition to videoconferencing capabilities, advancements in IP and more interest in UC solutions have also increased adoption rates. Also, conferencing solutions are winning in the marketplace as businesses search for solutions to help reduce costs and improve productivity.

"Declining hardware and service costs, and availability of new solutions such as telepresence and high definition videoconferencing will all go a long way in improving the market's prospects," said Jain.

Another recent industry report from Synergy (News - Alert) Research Group shows conferencing revenues actually grew seven percent in the first quarter sequentially – even as every other UC application experienced a sales decline.

According to the firm's findings, conferencing application sales grew at a 5 percent rate in the fourth quarter of 2008 and the worldwide market for collaborative applications in the first quarter of 2009 amounted to $913.3 million in sales.
