Conference Phones Provider ClearOne Wins Industry Awards

By Mae Kowalke, TMCnet Senior Editor

ClearOne (News - Alert) Communications—a company that specializes in conference phones, conferencing systems, and related products for audio, video, and Web applications—recently received multiple industry kudos for its products and market achievements.

This winter the company was bestowed awards by INTERNET TELEPHONY Magazine and Frost & Sullivan.

INTERNET TELEPHONY Excellence Award

MAXAttach IP Conference Phones SystemClearOne’s MAXAttach IP tabletop conferencing system landed the company this award. MAXAttach IP allows enterprises with SIP-based VoIP  systems to daisy-chain multiple phones together, up to a total of four. The result is multiple speakers, microphones, and dial pads distributed throughout the room for excellent coverage.

MAXAttach IP comes with two VoIP conference phones that can be split up for use in separate rooms with the addition of an extra base unit. The solution is compatible with products from 3Com, Aastra, Asterisk, Avaya, Brekeke, Cisco Systems, CounterPath, Grandstream, Inter-Tel, Linksys (News - Alert), NCH Swift Sound, Polycom, Siemens, Sipura, and sipX PBX.

INTERNET TELEPHONY’s Excellence Awards are given to products and solutions that help businesses build and grow their bottom lines by using IP communications technology. Case studies submitted by applying companies help in the selection process by demonstrating how the needs of end-users are being met.

Frost & Sullivan Audio Conferencing CEO of the Year

Zee Hakimoglu, Frost & Sullivan Audio Conferencing 2007 CEO of the YearClearOne’s CEO, Zee Hakimoglu, won Frost & Sullivan’s 2007 Audio Conferencing CEO of the Year award. The award was presented at the fifth annual Frost & Sullivan Excellence in Information & Communications Technologies banquet, held January 2007 in Arizona.

The awards given out at the banquet recognized companies and individuals that have contributed to significant growth in their industries, identified emerging trends ahead of the curve, and created advanced technologies expected to catalyze information/communications industries in the near future.

“It takes a great deal of effort and determination to excel in this industry,” Frost & Sullivan research director Rufus Connell said in a statement. “The companies that are represented here tonight have more than earned this recognition as they have propelled the information technology industry through their dedication and leadership.”

Hakimoglu joined ClearOne in 2003. The company credits her with “moving the company off the pink sheets market to the OTC market, stabilizing the product and marketing plans, and refocusing ClearOne on its core business.”

Before joining ClearOne, Hakimoglu established 15 years of executive and senior-level experience at companies including Oplink Communications (News - Alert) (developer of fiber optic subsystems and components), OZ Optics USA (manufacturer of fiber optic test equipment and components), Aydin Corp. (telecom equipment company, acquired in 1996); and Kaifa Technology, where she helped the company become acquired by E-Tek Dynamics (now part of JDS Uniphase).

“It is an honor to be recognized by Frost & Sullivan, one of the world's leading analyst firms,” Hakimoglu said in a statement. “This award is especially meaningful as it acknowledges the obstacles we have overcome in the past few years while also commending our strategic direction for the future. I am proud to say that our hard work has prepared us for the future. One never achieves success alone, so this award equally belongs to the entire ClearOne team.”
