Procter & Gamble Wins Award for Use of Polycom SpectraLink Phone System

By Meenakshi Shankar, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Recognizing the firm’s investment in technology from Polycom (News - Alert), Mobile Enterprise Magazine recently bestowed on Procter & Gamble (P&G) its 2007 “Best on Campus” Mobilizer Award.

Polycom is a provider of conference phone products and other collaboration solutions. P&G has adopted Polycom’s SpectraLink Wireless Telephone System, a move that tremendously improved communication capabilities for its mobile employees.

The Mobilizer Awards recognize companies for their achievements in deploying mobile solutions across the enterprise. The award is presented annually, with a focus on encouraging enterprises to understand the need for implementing smart solutions that can improve their communications and businesses.

“While we received many worthy nominations for our Mobilizer Awards, Procter & Gamble stood out for our panel of judges,” said Dorene VanHouten, publisher at Mobile Enterprise, in a statement. “It demonstrates a creative mobile solution with a clear ROI that directly benefits employees across the corporate campus.”

P&G is the parent company overseeing production of many popular personal care and home goods products—including Bounty paper towels, Tide laundry detergent, Crest toothpaste, Duracell batteries and Folgers coffee.

Using Polycom's SpectraLink WiFi handsets enables P&G managers and operators to be more responsive and productive. Operators are now equipped with wireless VoIP handsets that are integrated with their manufacturing lines.

Offering instant access to people and business-critical information, SpectraLink handsets offer push-to-talk functionality.
