Citrix Launches Australian Web Conferencing
By Alice Straight, TMCnet Web Editor
The Web conferencing business in Australia has grown enough to prompt Citrix Online (News - Alert) to over local service and pricing.
Citrix Web conferencing had been available in the nation previously, but users had to access the U.S. Web site and rates were in U.S. dollars.
Managing director HR Shiever said users would also get access to VoiP and local toll free numbers when using the service. He believed that the flat fee, and security associated with the Citrix brand would encourage users - particularly small and micro-businesses - to try the service.
This is the first time Citrix is offering service in the local currency, although it is expected to follow suit in India, Singapore and China.
Prior to the launch of gotomeeting.com.au, Citrix Online's entry level contracts started at approximately $700 U.S. for Web conferences of up to 25 people. The new service costs $65 a month for up to 15 people with rate of $624 Australian.
To promote the new service Citrix is planning a search and print marketing campaign.
