Conferencing Sales Grow Despite Recession
By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor
Despite harsh economic conditions that continue to threaten many IT and IP communications-related companies and markets, conferencing appears to be weathering the storm.
Conference call services help companies improve employee efficiencies by eliminating time spent traveling to face-to-face meetings, and also offers a way to promote eco-friendly, "greener" practices.
One research company has now highlighted the strength of conferencing, even in the current economy.
Synergy (News - Alert) Research Group recently announced the results of their latest study, which shows conferencing revenues actually grew 7 seven percent in the first quarter sequentially – even as every other UC application experienced a sales decline.
According to the firm's findings, conferencing application sales grew at a 5 percent rate in the fourth quarter of 2008 and the worldwide market for collaborative applications in the first quarter of 2009 amounted to $913.3 million in sales.
The growth in conferencing solutions like Web, audio and video offerings owes itself to businesses' needs to cut costs and invest in technologies that offer short-tern returns on investment.
Eagle Teleconferencing’s conference call solutions are especially useful in the current climate, as they can be set up last-minute and are available around-the-clock. Also, with a worldwide network connection infrastructure and a capacity of more than 10 billion minutes, the company offers businesses conference call options for productivity and reliability.
Another recent study from Wainhouse (News - Alert) Research finds the video conferencing equipment segment should recover in 2010. According to the research firm, 2010 should see a healthier growth rate with the number of units sold globally exceeding 350,000 by 2014.
