Exploring Conference Call Benefits
By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor
Conference call services are an important part of today's world. Not only do they offer an efficient and effective way for business communications to occur, but conference calls are becoming key for a number of other purposes as well.
The best known use for a conference call is a business meeting. But businesses today are leveraging conference calls to also enhance productivity of employees and reduce costs.
With conference calls, mobile employees can continue to communicate with other employees or customers, and companies can significantly reduce the need for traveling since meetings can take place right from an employees desk
A recent study from the Travel Industry Association notes air travelers are making less and less trips – meaning conference calls are the next option as they can communicate without having to travel . According to the study, "Deep frustration among air travelers caused them to avoid an estimated 41 million trips over the past 12 months at a cost of more than $26 billion to the U.S. economy."
Aside from saving on the cost of travel for their business, it also allows businesses to take an active role in reducing the environmental impact of business travel.
Another study by Wainhouse Research found that conferencing services are growing at a rapid pace in the Asia Pacific market. According to the study, audio conferencing grew to 50 percent in 2007 and is expected to continue at over 20 percent year-over-year for the next four years.
Another common use for conference calls is long distance communications. For families with loved ones serving overseas the ability to connect with them via a teleconference is a great advantage.
Because communication is such a major factor in the maintenance of their relationships, conference calls that remove costly fees are important.
