Range of Data Services Keeps Communications Provider Strong

By Amy Tierney, TMCnet Web Editor

In an environment where competition is strong and customers are constantly looking for ways to keep their spending low and their efficiencies high, it’s important for service providers to offer multiple services.

That’s the key to success for Cincinnati, Ohio-based communications provider. Beyond its voice solutions, PNG also offers a range of data services, Matt Ziebro, the company’s vice president of enterprise sales, told TMCnet in a recent podcast. PowerNet Global Communications.

“We now offer much bigger pipes,” Ziebro said. “We [also] offer MPLS, which is a very much a growing data service.”

Historically, PowerNet Global (News - Alert) has offered the T1 and DS3. But with the increasing need for data and the fact that more voice services are transferred over data lines, the company introduced Session Internet Protocol lines service. That service nets lets businesses pick and choose features at a fraction of the cost.

What’s more, PowerNet Global recently expanded its data offering to offer a more robust communications plan to agents and customers.

Perhaps the most interesting thing about PowerNet Global, Ziebro said, is the company’s partnership with 80 carriers as part of an aggregation agreement.

“Sometimes when you offer data services, you can be strong in one area, but not in another because it takes so much build out for these underlying carriers to be able to provide the service,” he said. “Through our aggregation agreements, we can find any area of the country you might be in – even rural areas – and we can get you a good price on data service.”
