Unisys (News - Alert) Corporation, a provider of high-volume messaging solutions to communications providers, announced a new range of services that enable its communications provider customers to drive new sources of revenue and enhance the user experience of their subscribers by integrating voice-based services with social media channels

The company will be offering the new value added services (VAS) on Unisys VoiceSource Express (VSE) 400 Series platform. These services target customers who use smartphones and feature phones. They help communications providers bring innovative, easy-to-use voice and data applications directly to these devices, according to company officials.

“With the explosion of new data-driven services and mobile offerings, carriers face significant competitive threats to their traditional voice business,” said Steven Chuey, vice president of global solution management at Unisys, in a statement. “To retain and grow their revenue streams, they need to leverage their deep, longstanding customer relationships and offer subscribers new ways to connect and communicate within the fabric of the social Web.”

Unisys’ service on Unisys VoiceSource Express (VSE) 400 Series platform offers several options to customers. For example, customers can record a voice-based tweet using Unisys Voice Tweets service and then easily post it as a voice- or text-based message. Similarly, the Unisys Speak to Facebook (News - Alert) service allows subscribers to use a voice system to update their Facebook status and post messages to friends' walls.

In addition to these, Unisys communications solutions available on the Unisys VSE platform also includes a messaging solution that uses core voice, fax and e-mail services to offer subscribers new ways to personalize services and keep in touch with contacts.

The company has also announced Notification Services that delivers a personalized information alert service to users at a device of their choice from any application using a variety of channels including SMS, MMS, IM, MWI, outdial and e-mail.

The Value Added Services allows communications provider customers to have access to advanced communication features such as call filtering, voice-to-text conversion, Web-based services, and presence services built on Unisys' application and notification services platforms.

In addition, these services bring additional revenue to communications providers as voicemail as a service and VAS as a service allow communications providers to offer voicemail and value-added services via a secure subscription-based model using Unisys' hosted cloud computing solutions, the company said.

Unisys’ solutions are integrated with a digital content management capability. It allows communications provider companies to deliver personalized content, interactive emergency alerts and location-based targeted advertising to customers
