Communications Provider: Telecommunication Industry in Middle East Set to Optimize at Annual Mobile Network Optimization Summit

By Neelam Malkani, TMCnet Contributor

In the wake of rapid evolution of the telecommunication industry in Middle East , IQPC (News - Alert), in strategic partnership with Frost and Sullivan, is organizing 5th Annual Mobile Network Optimization Summit in Dubai from May 22-25, 2011. The conference will provide an interactive platform for communications providers to gain in depth knowledge about technologies and best-practices.

IQPC delivers thought provoking, unbiased information through an optimum mix of conferences, tradeshows, workshops, seminars, webinars and study tours round the year. It invites leading practitioners and academics to share insights, expertise and solutions to today's escalating challenges. The Dubai summit will welcome industry experts from leading regional and international operators as well as the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority in the UAE to discuss new available technologies which will allow mobile networks to work efficiently.

Operators are offering new data services in the Middle East, such as mobile TV, to grow revenue streams which demand more capacity from the network. Next generation technologies are deployed by operators with the aim to improve QoS and QoE to keep up with high consumer demand, however, better technology means higher prices. Mobile operators are looking to invest in 4G networks such as LTE, WiMAX and HSPA+ with Zain (News - Alert) and Mobily leading the way. Due to the Middle East's heavy investment in rolling out a 3G network fairly recently, operators are trying to maximize it before moving on to 4G.

Khalid Murshed ,VP Mobile Access Network Technology at Du, defined the optimization. He said, “I define optimization like this–it is maximizing the efficiency of the network, utilizing the existing resource without the need of expansion. You can see why it is important because we want to reduce our capital expenditures. We also want to reduce the related OPEX (News - Alert) expenditure related to that CAPEX. It's all in the circle of maximizing the efficiency. Why do we need to optimize the network? To reduce the extra CAPEX that we need to invest to expand our networks and subsequently the other part of it is to improve the user experience inside our network.”

Murshed will be chairing the 5th Annual Mobile Network Optimization Summit this year, which is being sponsored by Omnitele, Waseela, Astellia (News - Alert) and Pitney Bowes.

In other news, Legal IQ, a division of IQPC recently announced the eDiscovery Strategies for Government Summit, being held June 27th-28th, 2011 in Washington, D.C., to manage the unique costs and challenges of eDiscovery in government enforcement of civil and criminal actions.
