Thrupoint's Collaboration Software Offering Explained

By David Sims, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Thrupoint officials recently detailed their collaboration software solution, Ubiquity Speak Conferencing, describing it as a scalable, carrier-class, IP conferencing app that “enables Service Providers to offer hosted audio as managed services for large enterprises.”

Speak uses Session Initiation Protocol (News - Alert), VoIP and the Ubiquity SIP Application Server architecture, a browser-based offering for a conferencing application feature set, company officials say, “as well as a web portal for scheduling, initiating, managing and terminating multi-party conferences.”

Thrupoint's conferencing offering, as company officials explain it, is a carrier-grade application for multimedia conferencing within an enterprise and between enterprises enabling “same time, same place, same level of participation meetings.” The product provides “robust audio conferencing with flexible scheduling capabilities, in-conference handover controls, and instant messaging” as well.

The product scales to thousands of simultaneous users, with a total cost of ownership and return on investment company officials describe as “so compelling that where appropriate, conference bridges can be left on for the day and used in squawk box mode.”

Outlining the benefits of Speak Conferencing, company officials say it provides the foundation for Communications Enhanced Business Processes, whereby teams or individuals “can respond to events or requests in an expedited manner, and includes up to 40 percent savings for combined telephony and audio conferencing services, ease of use encouraging collaborative participation that involves more people, faster rollout of new product and services via enhanced and expeditious training and an increase in meeting productivity by reducing dead-air with dial out conference establishment.

Last month TMC (News - Alert) wrote that one reason such tools are increasing in popularity is that today’s enterprise is increasingly dispersed geographically, has mobile employees and partners, and have you seen the cost of business travel these days? Or put it this way: Ever seen the George Clooney movie Up in the Air? There’s a reason The Chin’s boss wanted to take him off the road and replace him with an electronic conferencing setup. And those were Hollywood dollars. Your company’s talking real money.

Thrupoint officials describe their conferencing offering as a carrier grade application for multimedia conferencing, “within an enterprise and between enterprises that enables same time, same place, same level of participation meetings.” It comes with audio conferencing with flexible scheduling capabilities, in-conference handover controls and instant messaging.
