As a leader in high performance cloud infrastructure solutions, Vello (News - Alert) Systems unveiled its innovative Cloud Switching technology that leverages state-of-the-art grid-less optical technologies through the VellOS real-time operating system empowering CX4000 and CX16000 systems to deliver terabits of economical, low-latency, virtualized capacity in the wide area. Service providers, enterprise, and government institutions planning to migrate towards private, public and hybrid cloud architectures can leverage the new solution to deploy cost-effective capacity and intelligence features in their wide-area infrastructures.

By employing a new software framework that dynamically programs gigabits to terabits of capacity, Cloud Switching takes advantage of Vello’s advanced gridless optical technology to deliver 7 terabits of virtualized capacity per fiber. The advanced technology allows bandwidth to be assigned and re-assigned as per need which in critical feature for data center operators who need virtualized resources across wide-area and also content providers who are in need of dynamic capacity to shuffle large amount of content. In a release, Eve Griliches (News - Alert) at ACG Research said, “With the increasing adoption of 10G, especially within data centers and colocation facilities, finding solutions to meet growing capacity needs in the wide-area is becoming increasingly challenging. Vello Systems' Cloud Switching technology addresses these needs with a compelling combination of features, capabilities and economics.”

Vello Cloud Switching API development program will provide partners and 3rd party developers with access to the Cloud Switching bandwidth assignment and virtualization capabilities. The API program goal is to enable an open, extensible framework that helps create higher layer applications and systems used to define, manage and enforce infrastructure-level policies in sync with critical business processes. Consequently, IT managers can have access to network resources via a common control environment enabling virtualization and automation tasks.

Using the company's CloudMaster management and provisioning system, Cloud Switching can be easily managed with the help of an easy-to-use GUI-based system. Additionally, higher layer network and IT systems can also be accessed via an array of northbound programmatic interfaces including SNMP and XML.
