Developer of IP solutions and services GENBAND and Texas-based a rural carrier Eastex Telephone Coop., have announced the deployment of GENBAND’s (News - Alert) C15 Compact Softswitch to deliver communication services to Eastex’ residential and business subscribers across rural East Texas.
With GENBAND’s C15, Eastex can seamlessly migrate its legacy network as well as reduce power and floor space requirements by up to 50 percent due to its innovative and compact design. According to companies’ officials in the future, the C15 will also help position Eastex to offer new VoIP and data services to subscribers.
“GENBAND plays a key role in supporting our network growth by helping us move traffic from legacy switching infrastructure to next generation IP,” said Rusty Dorman, assistant general manager at Eastex.
Dorman said that the cost-effective transition to new technologies that GENBAND provides is key to the success and essential to customers’ satisfaction. “We have seen dramatic savings in power and floor space as well as continued reliability of service thanks to GENBAND’s C15.”
GENBAND is migrating over twenty Central Offices that include varying technologies to support Eastex’ large network expansion and modernization project. The technologies include legacy GENBAND DMS-10 and DMS-100, CopperCom and other third party equipment.
Additionally, GENBAND is also providing installation, commissioning and on-going Professional Services and GENBANDCare technical support capabilities, according to companies’ officials.
Dan Lakey, senior vice president of sales at GENBAND, said that C15 softswitch is a “highly-reliable” solution that allows innovative small and medium-sized service providers like Eastex to simply and easily support the traditional voice services needed today while laying the foundation to support the delivery of advanced VoIP services in the future.”
With GENBAND’s C15 second-generation carrier VoIP softswitch, Eastex can offer advanced features such as directory number hunt, local number portability and end office or Access Tandem operation.
Earlier this year, GENBAND signed an OEM agreement with Procera Networks (News - Alert).
