ECI Telecom's Hi-FOCuS MSAN Platforms Awarded Topper by Current Analysis

By Jayashree Adkoli, TMCnet Contributing Editor

ECI Telecom (News - Alert), a provider of networking infrastructure solutions, announced that Current Analysis, an independent research firm, has ranked its Hi-FOCuS multi-service access node (MSAN) as the number one broadband access platform in the Central Office Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer (CO DSLAM) category.
According to ECI, it is the second consecutive year that Current Analysis (News - Alert) recognized the company’s product - for superior performance and innovative functionality.
Most of the enterprises with geographically distributed offices rely on WAN/MAN for data connectivity. These enterprises are in need of expansion of their Ethernet-based LANs, in order to connect remote branches to their headquarters, and as well to connect their business to the Internet.
Hi-FOCuS series of multi-service access node (MSAN) platforms connects to businesses and residences from central office and street side, in order to provide xDSL, SHDSL and fiber access. It supports data, video and voice over fiber and copper infrastructure, thereby connecting enterprises over Ethernet and asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) using copper or fiber towards the network.
Current Analysis gave the ratings based on five major buying criteria: scalability, standards, capacity, QoS support and pricing.
Erik Keith, principal analyst at broadband infrastructure of Current Analysis and author of the evaluation, said, "ECI Telecom is being recognized for achieving the top overall ranking, based on the cumulative score across the five categories critical to customer purchase decisions. The Hi-FOCuS platform is distinguished by its unique service-enabling capabilities, high capacity and field-proven scalability."
Keith added: "While this particular comparison evaluates platforms configured for CO DSLAM deployment applications, the Hi-FOCuS platform's broad array of interfaces, including support for both packet voice and FTTP, enables operators to deliver a full spectrum of next-generation fixed access services."
Eyal Shaked, executive VP and general manager of ECI Telecom's network solutions division, said, "This recognition underscores the importance we assign to innovation, efficiency and customer reverence. The Hi-FOCuS MSAN, as part of the 1Net framework, supports carriers' migration to next-generation networks, while leveraging their current infrastructure, leading to opex and capex savings."
According to ECI, the Hi-FOCuS MSAN platform’s high quality of service (QoS) attributes, traffic prioritization properties and advanced security capabilities have increased the platforms’ customer base, with new accounts in Asia Pacific, the Former Soviet Union and Europe as well.
Israel-based ECI provides broadband access, transport and data networking infrastructure that supports voice, IPTV (News - Alert), mobility and other business solutions.
