Call centers are coming back to the United States at a frantic pace, and there are any number of communities taking advantage. In Indiana, the home improvement retail chain Lowes has just announced it is bringing new jobs to a call center there through the year, and in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, S&P Data is adding another 425 jobs to its call center in that city. The good news is the jobs that are going to be coming to town will be well-paying, with an average salary of around $38,000 plus benefits.
“S&P Data is excited by its entry into New Mexico. First and foremost, our decision to locate in New Mexico was based on the quality of the people and the availability of technology, research and development. New Mexico topped the list for quality of labor and affordability of lifestyle,” Dan Plashkes, CEO of S&P, said in a news release according to the Rio Rancho Observer.
The hiring phase will be in October and will be bringing in around 100 employees to start. The call center will be moving into a space at the Hewlett-Packard (News - Alert) building near the Rio Rancho city hall. S&P might be benefiting the community with the move, but the company will also get plenty of state resources. New Mexico state government is going to be giving the company around $4.4 million to upgrade the building S&P is moving into as well as get some new technological tools installed. The company will also be able to take advantage of $500,000 in Local Economic Development Act funds.
The state will also be providing more than $630,000 to the company to help train as many as 70 people to get trained up. The funds being diverted to S&P shows the level of effort put forth in order to bring the firm to New Mexico. Published reports say the state EDD, the city of Rio Rancho and the Albuquerque Economic Development council all worked together to bring S&P to town.
