When it comes to the call center business in the 21st century, there are quite a few ups and downs. Cold calling is no longer the order of the day and that means that call centers are changing the way they do business. One North Charleston, SC, call center has apparently been able to ford the waters of the troubled call center world. The firm told the Post and Courier that it is looking to add as many as 320 workers by the end of the year.
The additional hires are part of an expansion that has caused the company to spend around $391,500. The investment in the call center’s offices is aimed at increasing employment at the 42,000 square foot call center. With the new employees, the center is expecting it to have as many as 700 operators by the end of 2014.
IQor has been operating the call center, located in Dorchester County, since 2007. The firm handles a number of incoming calls for an array of corporate customers. Mason Argiropoulos, chief human resource officer at iQor (News - Alert), issued a statement to the Post and Courier about the call center saying, “North Charleston has consistently been a highly successful operation for many years, and so it was an easy decision to expand our presence and create jobs in this market."
The company has already gone about staging some rather large hiring rounds, including a recruitment drive that was called “250 by the 25th.” The firm went on the hiring round in order to meet the client growth. The company posted the hiring rates on its website as well as an hourly base pay that ranges from $9 to $11. There is also a potential to earn monthly bonuses. The company is part of a bigger firm that has 32,000 associates around the world.
