NICE Systems, a global provider of advanced solutions to enable organizations to extract Insight from Interactions to drive performance, has announced its selection by the Port of Miami to provide its NiceVision Net IP video surveillance solution.

"The implementation of NiceVision's video surveillance system is another example of how the Port of Miami is implementing cutting-edge technology to strengthen our ability to provide a safe and secure environment for both our port users," said Bill Johnson, Port of Miami Director.

The Port of Miami is considered one of America’s busiest ports and is recognized for its dual distinction as the "Cruise Capital of the World" and the "Cargo Gateway (News - Alert) of the Americas.”

The Port of Miami will deploy the NICE IP video surveillance solution as part of an upgrade meant to enhance safety and security for more than four million cruise passengers and 7.4 million tons of cargo passing through the Port every year.

"The Port I.T. Section conducted market research via the creation of a sandbox for video surveillance solution providers to demonstrate their capabilities. Any provider that was interested in participating in our market research was provided the opportunity to demonstrate the performance of their product,” said Louis Noriega, Chief of Information Systems for the Port of Miami.

Upon complete implementation, the NiceVision Net IP video surveillance solution will be an upgrade to the Port’s analog video surveillance system. It will also help to secure all of its facilities, parking garages, commercial cargo and passenger cruise terminals.

“We asked the providers to tie into our existing analog system, furnish an IP infrastructure and demonstrate their system operation and performance," said Noriega. "The Port then conducted a hands-on evaluation, scoring each solution based on thirty-six key criteria. NICE received the highest rating," Noriega said.

Port officials can use the NICE solution to remotely and centrally monitor and manage hundreds of pre-existing analog cameras as well as the newly installed IP video surveillance cameras. The Port will receive the benefit of NICE's seamless migration path to IP and unified management capabilities.

"The Port of Miami is renowned as one of the world's leading ports, and for its cutting-edge technology and progressive procedures for advancing safety and security," said Chris Wooten, President, Security Division Americas, NICE. "NICE is very proud to have been selected for this important port security upgrade, especially in light of the Port's diligent evaluation. We look forward to partnering with the Port of Miami to help further improve its security operations."

NICE continues to make inroads in its industry as the company has once again been honored with a 2009 TMC (News - Alert) Labs Innovation Award. This latest win for the company with the Port of Miami strengthens the proof of its offering and demonstrates the value it can deliver to an organization of any size.
