NICE Systems provides solutions for organizations that allow them to “extract Insight from Interactions” and drive performance. The company’s latest solution, SafeRoute, announced today, provides monitoring and manages security across transportation systems including stations, rails, critical infrastructure and fleets.

SafeRoute is the company's first mobile digital video surveillance solution and further expands the company’s suite of security solutions which offer real-time threat detection and verification as well as post incident investigation and resolution.

Now, the company’s surveillance offerings go further than stationary assets and include moving vehicles like trains, buses and trams so public transit providers can ensure all their security needs are met.

The offering makes it possible to view video on a driver monitoring screen or on a wireless or cellular network and is designed specifically for public transposition environments.

“Many of the world’s leading public transit providers already rely on NICE’s video surveillance solutions to protect their stations, rails, critical infrastructure, and other assets," said Shykeh Gordon, Corporate VP & President of NiceVision, NICE Systems (News - Alert).

“With the launch of SafeRoute, NICE will apply our extensive security expertise, along with state-of-the-art mobile security technology, to help transit companies secure their passengers in transit and their fleets. Now, no matter when, where, why or how security challenges arises, NICE’s solutions can help transportation companies secure and monitor every point in the transportation field.”

To further improve incident tracking, the offering can also be integrated with external input sensors like GPS and Vehicle Information Systems so information about vehicle location, speed and driver actions are all recorded. This data can be stored with video and voice recordings to make it even easier for investigators to see the exact when, where, why of incidents.

“SafeRoute onboard video surveillance is not only an effective deterrent, it is one of the most effective tools available for prosecuting crime, investigating claims, and improving the personal safety of passengers and staff,” said Gordon.

“Vandalism alone can cost transportation companies millions of dollars annually. Experience also shows there is a direct correlation between passengers’ sense of security and their ridership, so employing SafeRoute can potentially help transit operators achieve a higher return on their fleet investments.”

NICE Systems recently announced strong results for the fourth quarter and full year ending December 31, 2008 with revenues of $163.3 million and earnings per fully diluted share reaching $0.50 with a book-to-bill greater than 1. For a positive look into the future, the company’s backlog is also at a record level of 39 with 7-digit deals won.

“2008 was a successful year for NICE. We met our targets despite the challenging economic environment. We achieved strong performance in both the enterprise and security sectors throughout the year,” said Haim Shani, Chief Executive Officer, NICE Systems.

“The advanced solutions we offer help our enterprise customers comply with regulations and mitigate risk, enhance operational efficiency and improve customer relations, which are key to maintaining their competitive edge and their survival. On the security front, we successfully executed our strategy of integrating multiple security solutions to deliver a single comprehensive, unique and powerful offering.”
