NICE Systems (News - Alert), a provider of intent-based solutions that capture and analyze interactions and transactions, realize intent and extract and leverage insights to deliver impact in real-time, offers enterprise, actimize and security solutions and services. Its security solutions enable organizations to anticipate, manage and mitigate security, safety and operational risks. Its offerings for the enterprise and security sectors serve three main needs: improving business performance, decreasing financial risk and enhancing safety and security.

The company recently announced an enhancement to its Inform multimedia incident information management solution. The new offering provides the ability for security control enters and public safety answering points (PSAPs) to utilize text, video and audio recordings from outside technology to become part of their incident timelines.

NICE Inform is an existing application that helps emergency centers manage multimedia information about incidents, using media sources that the centers control or to which they have direct access. In addition to audio and video, the multimedia data can include police radio transmissions, geo-location positioning or Web data. This information can also be used to improve future responses by helping organizations identify opportunities for training operators to help improve their skills.

The security solution provides ground-breaking capabilities for effectively managing multimedia incident information from various sources, for faster incident reconstruction, greater insight and improved response. The unique comprehensive capabilities of NICE Inform can be tailored to the specific needs of command and control centers for first responders and homeland security, transportation, government and private sector organizations, and deliver improved collaboration and operational efficiency to enhance safety and security.

The new enhancements can help emergency service agencies solve and document crimes by integrating details from numerous sources, like cell phone audio, security camera videos and 911 recordings. Once imported into the Inform organizer, the third party media can be synchronized to create an overall timeline. This differentiating technology reinforces NICE’s support of Next Generation 911 and its commitment to meeting the challenge of external data integration for enhancing investigations and debriefings.

“Our NICE Inform enhancements are unmatched in the industry,” said Guy Yaniv, general manager of the Surveillance Solutions Division at NICE. “For the first time, a security operation center or PSAP can integrate multimedia recordings – text, voice and video – from different capture platforms, including external ones, into one complete incident reconstruction. This holistic picture helps improve the investigation and debriefing capabilities required during an incident or security breach.”

The new enhancements add the ability for emergency centers to utilize media from third parties, such as smartphones. Other third party sources could include bank video management systems for ATM transactions and bank security, or similar systems in mass transit systems. This enables security operations to leverage their existing capture platforms to the fullest, and to reconstruct events exactly as they happened for more thorough investigations.

For example, PSAPs can now amalgamate video from citizens’ smart devices, in-car mobile video recordings, and video recordings of incidents captured on third party platforms to create comprehensive incident reconstruction timelines. A bank that uses different Video Management Systems (VMS) for ATM transactions and building security can merge video from these different systems for a complete reconstruction of any event. Mass transit systems and airports that manage surveillance video through multiple VMSs can also take advantage of this advanced technology. Using NICE Inform Version 5, they can piece together all elements into one seamless timeline, regardless of the capture platform.
