To enhance its situational awareness and response capabilities, the Louis Armstrong New Orleans Airport is to install NICE Systems’ (News - Alert) Situator for open situation management and enhanced security. Implementing the situation management solution will allow the airport to incorporate third party systems, video solutions, fire alarm systems, access control solution, and a computer-aided dispatch system.

The NICE Situator has been integrated in the airport’s new Security Operations Center which oversees all airport emergency response activities in addition to anything security related. As the first North American airport to implement NICE’s solution, the Armstrong International Airport will use the solution to help meet the rigorous standards of the Transportation Security Administration airport security regulations.

NICE provides business performance and risk reduction solutions to organizations worldwide. The company’s situation management solution is perfect for the New Orleans airport as it integrates all the security systems in real time while correlating data and alert dispatchers.

John Lyon, telecommunications manager for Armstrong International Airport stated, “At Armstrong International Airport we are proud to employ world-class security and safety technologies from many different companies, and NICE Situator is the centerpiece of that. With NICE Situator, our dispatchers are able to immediately get a single view of a situation across our many different security and safety systems, with real-time analysis and alerts, and embedded response plans to guide their actions.”

The Situator’s framework is developed so that it is able to automate complex response workflows which in turn ensures that dispatchers adhere to operating procedures that follow TSA guidelines including preventing unauthorized entry to secured areas.

Lyon added, "Normally it could take a year to customize a solution of this magnitude, but with NICE Situator, we were able to accelerate the deployment and complete the initial implementation in a matter of weeks. We are looking forward to working with NICE on future enhancements and expansions.”
