Appian Turns to 8x8 Virtual Office Hosted PBX to Support Growth

8x8 (News - Alert), a provider of virtual office business VoIP solutions, recently announced that business process management (BPM) specialist Appian has selected its cloud-based hosted PBX business phone system to facilitate continued growth.


Appian turned to 8x8 after it realized that the premises-based telephony solution it was using from a big telco wasn’t sufficiently reliable or flexible to support the company’s future growth and was too costly.

After deploying Virtual Office from 8x8, Appian is now realizing great value, feature functionality and flexibility. The solution supports Appian’s dynamic communications needs including voice, call queuing, voicemail and more via desk phones and a range of mobile devices.

"We were looking for something that could grow with our business and give us more resiliency," said Myles Weber, Appian's vice president of cloud and community services, in a statement. "Scaling, as well as reliability, of our phone system is really important to us, and those are two of the trademarks of the 8x8 solution."

The software-based phones and mobile applications from 8x8 are offered at much lower costs than Appian’s previous solutions. With 8x8, the company’s unlimited extension holders now have the ability to use both the softphones and mobile applications at no additional charge, Weber added.

Virtual Office softphones are ideal to connect Appian’s sales and service professionals who are often on the road. The browser-based controls allow Appian IT staff to quickly add new employees to the company system, whether working in the office or remotely, and configure customized calling arrangements in real time.

Appian, which was positioned in the "Leaders" quadrant by Gartner (News - Alert) in its 2012 "Magic Quadrant for Intelligent Business Process Management Suites" report, says more than 3.5 million users rely on Appian to optimize and modernize their mission-critical business processes.

With its growing volume of clientele which includes Amazon.com (News - Alert), Major League Baseball, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Bank of Tennessee, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Vermont Mutual and hundreds more, Appian is in the process of expanding its employee base in the U.S. The Virtual Office helps Appian optimize its workforce and improve coordination so it can support the company’s growth targets.
