8x8 Appoints Mansour Salame to Board of Directors, Promotes Kim Niederman to President

8x8 (News - Alert), a provider of innovative cloud communications and computing solutions, announced the appointment of Mansour Salame as the new member of its Board of Directors, effective January 2, 2012, following the resignation of Donn Wilson.

The company also announced that Kim Niederman (News - Alert), 8x8's senior vice president of Worldwide Sales, has been promoted to President, with responsibilities to oversee the Company's sales, customer service and network operations teams.

Salame founded the company Contactual (News - Alert), a cloud-based contact center provider that was acquired by 8x8 in September 2011. Prior to establishing Contactual, Salame formed another firm NextAge Technologies, a forecasting and scheduling software company that was acquired by Alcatel.

Prior to NextAge, Salame established and ran the Southern European Offices and Operations for Genesys Telecommunications Laboratories. Salame began his career at Andersen Consulting, where he was instrumental in the call center vertical, helping Fortune 1000 companies structure and build innovative call centers.

"Mansour Salame (News - Alert) has been a pioneer in the call center industry, bringing his vision of how disruptive the concept of a 'virtual call center' could be when he founded Contactual soon after the first wave of VoIP technologies emerged," said Bryan Martin, chairman and chief executive officer of 8x8, adding that his in-depth understanding of 8x8’s technology and business model will serve their shareholders well.

"I am delighted to join Bryan on the Board during this exciting time for 8x8," said Mansour Salame, in a statement. "As a leading provider in the fast growing cloud business communications and computing markets, 8x8 is in a unique position to capture a significant share of that growth."

Commenting on the retirement of Donn Wilson, Martin said, "8x8 is grateful for the many years of service Donn Wilson has dedicated to the company, beginning with our emergence as a consumer phone services company through our transition to business communications and cloud computing services."

Kim Niederman, the new president of 8x8, is capable of moving the company up serving larger enterprise organizations and taking 8x8’s customer service and operations teams to the next level, according to Martin.

"Kim has done a fantastic job this past year not only invigorating 8x8's internal and external sales operations but also enhancing the Company's capabilities and reputation as a world-class service provider," said Martin.

8x8 recently announced that CEO Bryan Martin and CFO Dan Weirich (News - Alert) will present at the 14th Annual Needham Growth Conference on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 11:20 am. The three-day event is being held January 10 - 12, 2012 at The New York Palace Hotel in New York City.
