Looking to manage all 300,000 employees across its entire enterprise, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has selected a comprehensive workforce management solution from Kronos, the company has announced in a press release.

Systems Made Simple (SMS), a service-disabled veteran-owned IT service provider was the main contractor for this project and Kronos (News - Alert) partnered as a sub-contractor to further offer value-added technical services to the department. As part of its department-wide financial and payroll modernization and centralization program, the Department of Veterans Affairs selected SMS and the Kronos webTA solution. webTA will help the department accurately track time and attendance for its entire workforce through complete automation of the employee time and attendance process.

Kronos webTA, the web-based, 508 compliant employee time tracking, attendance, and labor management solution is a state-of-the art, off-the-shelf software solution designed exclusively for the federal government.

“webTA’s advanced features improve transparency, accountability, and collaboration. Coupled with Kronos’ comprehensive services, webTA maximizes our customers’ IT resources and budgets to drive efficiency,” stated Jeff Babcock, vice president and general manager, Kronos federal division. “We are extremely pleased to be selected by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs based on our market reputation and industry-leading products.”

webTA is an off-the-shelf software application, which is a web-based and 508-compliant workforce management solution. webTA incorporates federal-specific pay rules around workforce technology architecture, audit-ability, and accountability and is designed exclusively for the federal government. SMS and Kronos will seamlessly integrate webTA with the department’s existing IT infrastructure including the DFAS payroll system.

In 2008, the company launched its new version of Workforce Central. Workforce Central 6.1 provides a centralized view of the entire workforce, enabling organizations to monitor workforce performance across diverse geographies. The latest version featured expanded language support (Dutch, European French, and German); overtime review and approval features that give managers more visibility to overtime before it happens; overtime reprocessing and allocation options that improve the accuracy of overtime calculations
