Using Wallboards outside the Call Center

By Chris Freeburn, TMCnet Web Editor

Using wallboards to disseminate information across a large group of workers in a single facility may seem like the best possible use for the technology and one that naturally lends itself to call centers, where most call agents work in cubicles or at desks in a centralized area. However, wallboards have a variety of other uses and fit very well in businesses that don’t even possess call or contact centers. The sheer variety of available wallboard displays – like those manufactured by Spectrum – make it easy to find a wallboard option that fits your business.

The primary goal of wallboard technology is to display information in a way that communicates key data to people who see it. While the application of wallboards in the call center is intended to keep agents focused on call waiting time, call volume and other important service metrics, the relevance of keeping employees and visitors abreast of pertinent information affects every business, regardless of industry.

Manufacturing companies can benefit greatly from deploying wallboards across the assembly and fabrication areas. Wallboards placed where workers can see them can relay important information regarding process times, production delays and equipment or part supply inventories. Wallboards can also be used to display important safety information or issue visually-arresting warnings, alerting workers on the plant floor of impending dangers.

But wallboards work equally well in sales situations, allowing a sales team to chart individual salesperson progress against the team as a whole, allowing for healthy competition between representatives. Or they can be used to post relevant sales or product information.

In offices, wallboards mounted in the reception area can be used to present video, photos, graphics and text messages that emphasize the business’ core values or transmit marketing messages to potential clients. Public arenas and theaters can employ wallboards to post information regarding event times and ticket pricing – information often subject to frequent changes.

In these applications – and in many others – wallboards offer a convenient, simple to use, highly-visible means of getting workers’ or visitors’ attention and transmitted desire information or marketing messages.

Wallboards remain the single most cost effective and efficient method of bringing real time information and messaging to a business.
