Call Center Training Soon to Come to Yuma, Arizona

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

The arrival of a new company within the boundaries of any U.S.-based city means job growth. For the city of Yuma, Arizona, that job growth will be in the form of call center positions. With these new positions comes the need for call center training, preparing new hires for the tasks associated with customer care. The aforementioned company, Nation’s Health, plans to open a new call center in Yuma.

The organization provides outsourced services and support for a number of private and government health insurers. According to this Yuma Sun report, this new arrival will bring with it hundreds of new jobs. Nation’s Health chief operating officer, Jeff Bishop, shared that the company plans to have the center ready and operational by early fall. The initial workforce needing call center training will number between 100 and 150.

When running at full capacity, the company expects to hire as many as 750 people. Making up the workforce will be customer service representatives, accounting for roughly half of the company’s on-site staff. The other half are expected to be licensed insurance agents, according to Bishop. The company intends to recruit agents already certified, while positions for those seeking training will also be filled. Nation’s Health is already accepting applications and plans to begin call center training in the near future. This latest move for Nation’s Health is in response to the company’s rapid growth and business expansion.

The provider operates other call center facilities in the United States and the Philippines. Yuma provides an attractive location due to its available workforce, its location and the strong partnerships between public and private sectors. “Yuma was a unique experience,” Bishop told the Yuma Sun. “The city, county, state, GYEDC, YPIC and AWC (Arizona Western College) were all part of the conversation. They were all in the room working together to help and guide. They were all more aligned than any I've seen in trying to bring in a business.”

New hires with Nation’s Health will receive the necessary call center training to support the health care industry. Services offered through the Yuma location will focus on both public and private insurers, with special member services for senior citizens. Calls will be taken to help these individuals receive the care and medications they need. Nation’s Health could benefit from the services offered by RCCSP.

The call center training provider will host a three-day Call Center Manager Training and Certification course August 20-22 in Boston. According to the RCCSP website, this course will enable attendees to learn the “art and science of contact center management” while they also hone the tactical skills needed in the call center every day. An instructor-led course, the call center training is priced at $2,795 and includes the certification exam. Interested parties can register here or simply visit the site for more information.
